A stage describes what the vehicle is actually running, not simply how much power you would like from it.
A recalibration that leaves the vehicle at its factory power figures. Used to clean up throttle response and driveability, or to bring a poorly calibrated file back to a sound baseline.
Software only, on an otherwise standard vehicle. No hardware changes are required.
For vehicles with light bolt-on changes, such as an intake or a less restrictive exhaust, but with the standard turbocharger and internals.
For vehicles with supporting hardware already fitted — typically a downpipe, an intercooler or an intake upgrade. The hardware has to be on the vehicle before the file is written.
For heavily modified engines, usually with an upgraded turbocharger or injectors. Each file is matched to the specific build.
Calibration for E85 ethanol fuel. The fuel system has to have the capacity and the ethanol tolerance for it.
E85 calibration pushed further, for vehicles with the supporting hardware for it.
Returns the control unit to the original factory calibration.
Transmission software: shift points, shift speed and torque limiters, where the platform allows them to be changed.

Options are selected on top of a stage. What is available depends on the vehicle and on its engine management.
Calibration for E85 ethanol fuel, or for a varying mix of E85 and petrol. The fuel system has to have the capacity and the ethanol tolerance for it.
Adapts ignition timing and fuelling to the octane rating actually available where the vehicle is driven.
Changes the rev limiter from a gradual cut to an abrupt one.
Holds a set engine speed on standing starts, where the platform supports it.
Removes the factory top speed limiter.
Shortens or removes the raised idle and enrichment phase after a cold start.
Corrects hard starting when the engine is already at temperature.
Disables automatic engine shutdown at a standstill.
Keeps all cylinders running instead of allowing partial-cylinder operation under light load.
Disables intake swirl flap control, normally after the flaps have been removed mechanically.
Ties the vehicle's driving mode selector to the tuned calibration.
Enables the on-board performance displays, where the platform provides them.
Produces exhaust pops on overrun. It raises exhaust and catalyst temperatures, so it is not suitable for every vehicle.
A rapid crackle effect at the rev limiter.
Changes how the exhaust valve is controlled, where one is fitted.
The audible effect on gear changes for dual-clutch gearboxes.
These options disable emission control systems. Applying them to a vehicle used on public roads is not permitted in the EU or in many other countries, and it will normally invalidate the vehicle's type approval, its roadworthiness certificate and its insurance. We supply them for off-road, competition and export use only. As a professional, the customer is responsible for how the file is used and for complying with the law in the country where the vehicle is registered.
Disables control of the particulate filter, normally after the filter itself has been removed.
Disables exhaust gas recirculation.
Disables the SCR / AdBlue after-treatment system.
Suppresses selected diagnostic trouble codes so that they no longer trigger a warning.
Adapts the file for a vehicle running without a catalytic converter.
